Summary
School Life is a set of web pages that run entirely in your browser. There is no back-end, no database server and no user accounts held by us. Logins inside the tools exist only to separate roles on a shared computer; they are checked locally and never transmitted.
What is stored
Information you type into a tool is saved in your browser’s localStorage on the device you are using, so it is still there next time you open the page.
| What | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Theme preference | Remember light or dark mode | This browser only |
| School records (students, staff, attendance, meals, exams, timetables) | Make the tools work | This browser only |
| Login session | Keep you signed in across tool pages | This browser only |
| Roles & permissions | Control which tools each user can open | This browser only |
What we never collect
- No analytics, tracking pixels or advertising scripts.
- No copies of your records on any server.
- No email addresses or phone numbers — unless you choose to email us.
Third-party resources
To look and work their best, some pages load files from public content networks. These requests reveal your IP address to that provider, as with any website, but never include your school data.
- Google Fonts — the Outfit and Inter typefaces. If blocked, the site uses your system fonts.
- cdnjs — jsPDF (PDF downloads) and Chart.js (charts), loaded only on the tool pages that need them.
Cookies
School Life sets no cookies. Preferences and records use localStorage, which stays in your browser and is not sent with web requests.
Your control
- Export: download CSV, PDF or a full JSON backup from the tools and School Settings.
- Delete: use the reset option in School Settings, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings. Deleted local data cannot be recovered unless you kept a backup.
- Move: restore a backup file on another device.
Student data
Your school remains the owner and controller of any student or staff information entered into the tools. Please follow your local data-protection rules, use School Life on trusted devices and sign out on shared computers.
Security
Because data lives in the browser, anyone with access to the same device and browser profile could open it. Protect the device with a password, keep regular backups in a safe place and avoid using public computers for school records.
Changes to this policy
If the way School Life handles data ever changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised.
